Kindergarten Announcements

Early Learning:

What a fun week we had getting to know each other!  We worked on routines and expectations, and played outside on the playground.  We also went to the gym, music, media center, and art.  We read Chrysanthemum and Go Away, Big Green Monster and did activities that go with each book.  We also learned how to talk and listen to each other respectfully, how to greet each other with kindness, and how to make new friends.  I've loved getting to know your child!  They are all amazing little humans and I cannot wait to watch them learn and grow.

Google Photo Link:

There will be a lot of photos taken of these cuties this year!!  I will add them all to a google album.   You may access them at this link.  Enjoy!

Snack/Leaders:

Please bring enough snacks for 22 students and a show & tell with 3 clues written on the bookmarked page in the notebook.  A leader bag with notebook will come home with your child when it is their turn to be the leader. Here is the leader calendar link.

Wednesday: Norah *Happy Birthday*

Drop off and Pick up:

The south end of the building is used to drop off and pick up students. Enter the drop off lane from Langley on to Coles. Please pull all the way forward when dropping off your child in the drop off line. You may also park in the neighborhood or by the church and walk your child up to the playground. As soon as they are comfortable, please let your child walk to our line independently.

Pick up for kindergarten is at 3:40.  Please park in the neighborhood or at the church and walk to the south doors to meet your child.  Try to bring your blue name tag from the back to school information to help me see who you are there to pick up.  We won't need the name tags for too long! Thank you for being on time and helping keep this transition smooth.

Welcome to Kindergarten

Hello!

It was great meeting you at orientation/Back to School Night!  I can already tell that this will be a fantastic group of kindergarteners.  I just wanted to give you a few reminders before our first days.

Remember the phase-in schedule.  A-K(Mon,Wed.) L-Z(Tues.,Thurs). Thank you to everyone who volunteered to bring snacks for the first week.  There will be about 12 students on Monday/ Wednesday and about 12 students on Tuesday/Thursday.  You can bring the exact amount of snacks or add a few extras to start our “reserve stash”.  Also, please remember to bring the following items on the first day.

  • Please bring a labeled backpack

  • Please bring a labeled water bottle

  • Please bring a labeled lunch box or inform your child that he/she will have hot lunch (I will explain hot lunch procedure on Monday/Tuesday)

  • Please bring your kindergartener's blue folder that they received at orientation.  Please include any teacher notes or office paperwork.

  • On the first days (Mon/Tues), your child may bring a show-and-tell to leave in backpacks (anything special from home). You will receive a leader calendar for beyond the first week.

  • Please talk positively about school while listening to any fears or concerns your child may have.

  • I will meet the kindergarteners at the playground on our first day of school.  Please remind them to head to the cafeteria before playing on the playground if they need to eat breakfast. We provide breakfast to all students.  However, please arrive at 8:15 to give students time to eat before learning begins at 8:30am.

  • Your child will be very tired after their first day.  This is normal....don't worry.  Stamina will increase as the year progresses.

  • Here is the link to the orientation slide show from last week.  Feel free to refer back to it.
