Welcome to Kindergarten

Hello!

It was great meeting you at orientation/Back to School Night!  I can already tell that this will be a fantastic group of kindergarteners.  I just wanted to give you a few reminders before our first days.

Remember the phase-in schedule.  A-K(Mon,Wed.) L-Z(Tues.,Thurs). Thank you to everyone who volunteered to bring snacks for the first week.  There will be about 12 students on Monday/ Wednesday and about 12 students on Tuesday/Thursday.  You can bring the exact amount of snacks or add a few extras to start our “reserve stash”.  Also, please remember to bring the following items on the first day.

  • Please bring a labeled backpack

  • Please bring a labeled water bottle

  • Please bring a labeled lunch box or inform your child that he/she will have hot lunch (I will explain hot lunch procedure on Monday/Tuesday)

  • Please bring your kindergartener's blue folder that they received at orientation.  Please include any teacher notes or office paperwork.

  • On the first days (Mon/Tues), your child may bring a show-and-tell to leave in backpacks (anything special from home). You will receive a leader calendar for beyond the first week.

  • Please talk positively about school while listening to any fears or concerns your child may have.

  • I will meet the kindergarteners at the playground on our first day of school.  Please remind them to head to the cafeteria before playing on the playground if they need to eat breakfast. We provide breakfast to all students.  However, please arrive at 8:15 to give students time to eat before learning begins at 8:30am.

  • Your child will be very tired after their first day.  This is normal....don't worry.  Stamina will increase as the year progresses.

  • Here is the link to the orientation slide show from last week.  Feel free to refer back to it.

I am very excited to nurture our classroom family and watch friendships develop .  I know it will be a smooth week!  Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Kindly,

-Lara Crawford
