Kindergarten Announcements
Please remember to send in candy for gingerbread houses by Thursday.
ELA
We started looking closely at a new book called Come On, Rain! and explored how weather affects the characters in the book. We learned that the word “affect” means to make something or someone change. The weather affected us on Monday because we didn’t have school, we had to wear snow pants and boots, and we had to drive very carefully.
We also learned to identify Pp and Yy, Xx and read the new words was, see.
Math
We finished our shape unit by looking at diverse pieces of art and finding familiar shapes created by the artist. This helped students think about shapes in a way that makes sense to them.
P2: Prudence
Making a plan can get you better results faster. Always keep in mind your bigger goals and you will find the right path to achieve them.
Science: Wild Weather
We learned about weather prediction and storms! Your child heard a story about a boy named JJ who helped his grandfather get ready for a big thunderstorm. A weather report on TV told JJ’s grandfather that the storm was on its way.
Next time you want to find out what the weather will be like, consider inviting your child to check the weather with you — and take a look at “Weather Report for Kids” at kidsweatherreport.com Just enter your location and click "Get Weather". The weather report that comes up describes the weather in words and cartoon pictures. This is great for kids and grownups!
Centers:
We put together Christmas puzzles, made a Christmas countdown chain, sorted Christmas pictures, and counted the room up to twenty.
Sight Words:
I, am, a, the, an, and, is, of, go, no, so, to, do, my, said, into, that, not, she, he, me, as, you, are, was, see
Snow Gear Reminders
If students do not have snow pants and boots, they may play on the blacktop (instead of the mulched playground) for recess. Also…please remember to send in a reusable tote or bag to keep snow gear in. It is challenging for them to fit all their gear into their backpacks and things are getting lost. Thank you!
Holiday Fun:
I could use a few more parents to assemble gingerbread houses this week. Please let me know if you can help. Also…please remember to send in assigned gingerbread candy.
