Kindergarten Announcements
ELA
We spent this week learning about the subway. We read a book
about a dad and his two children spending a cold day riding the
subway for fun. We compared the journeys of various subway
trains and then wrote about our favorite train. We also
reviewed short vowels by reading and writing three and
four-letter words. Keep working on those rainbow words!
Math
Students used their fingers, ten-frames, and connecting cubes
to find the missing number needed to make 10. We played a
fun game called “What’s Behind My Back”. Students had to
guess how many connecting cubes were behind my back
using different strategies to make 10.
P2: Humor
Humor is a sense of playfulness and lightness. It is a way of
looking at and describing the world that brings laughter to
people. A person with the strength of humor is skilled at
seeing the funny side of things, bringing smiles and laughter
to others, and identifying and communicating the absurdities
in life.
Science: None
Rainbow Words
Please keep practicing these important words at home every
night.
Centers:
We practiced subtracting candy hearts, counting by 10s, played
a game where they designed a solution that protects a model
town called Tiny Town from a bouncing-ball “boulder”, and
graphed candy hearts by color.
