   Kindergarten Announcements

Thank you to all of you for making my birthday special. 

I loved all of the sweet cards and loving hugs. 

I am blessed to have such a wonderful group of students and families.

ELA

This week we worked with the letters/sounds t, s, and the sight words the and a.  We also clapped out syllables, and chained together sounds to make the words am, Sam, mat.  We also learned about “attributes”,  how to describe our favorite toys, and what makes them fun. 

Finally we talked about the word “prefer” and recorded our preferred toy through drawings and labels.

Math

We practiced making and describing groups that have more, fewer, and the same number of objects.  

Recognizing quantities represented by fingers was also a focus of this week’s math lessons.

Manipulating counters, pattern blocks, and other collections to make groups made our learning fun and hands-on.

P2:  Purpose  

People who possess a sense of purpose believe that they were put on earth for a reason.

Kindergarten discussed that we can find purpose through our jobs and had fun sharing what we want to be someday.

Science

We began our weather watchers unit this week and learned why it gets warmer in the afternoon

and cooler in the morning and evening.

Laps for Lincoln…:

began Friday with our kickoff assembly and t-shirts.  Please check the family blog for more information.

Parent/Teacher conferences:

Kindergarten conferences will be held in early November.  We will be sending out a google sign up sheet in the coming weeks.  

Classroom needs: none

On a Personal Note:

I want to let you know my family is going through the end of life stage with my father. I will be missing school in the coming weeks to be with my family and help care for my dad. I will be planning all instruction for the days I am unable to be at school. Please help your students with the change in teachers and remind them the expectations are the same, even when I am not there. Thank you for your understanding.
