Kindergarten Announcements
ELA
This week we began making our own Snowy Day book by
creating a character and drawing activities that our new
character will do in the snow.
We reviewed all of the letters and learned to read the
words your, this, with
Math
Students are developing their understanding of addition
and subtraction as they represent and solve story problems. Students solved story problems by using drawings, numbers,
objects, and actions. Finally they learned that “expressions” is
the symbolic way to represent addition and subtraction.
P2: Perspective
Perspective helps you consider what other people experience or feel.
It can make you a better friend and even help you better
understand yourself!
Science: .
In this Read-Along lesson, we read a story about a girl who
watches a house being built and wonders why the builders
need so many big machines. Students then acted out the
“work words” of their favorite machine.
Rainbow Words
We sent home six color-coded lists of High Frequency Words
in folders on Friday. (I will post the link to a digital copy too).
Please practice reading these words with your child at home.
A volunteer parent will come in once a week to listen to your child
read the list of words. When your child can read all the words
correctly on all six lists, they will receive a small pack of Skittles
as a reward. I look forward to handing out lots of Skittles
this May (or sooner)
Centers:
We sequenced The Snowy Day by cutting and gluing the
pictures in the correct order, we used magnifying glasses
to search for sight words, we read Big Books, and counted
ten frames around the room.
